Just moved back to Denton area after being gone for fifteen years.

Started poking my nose around RR doing a little scouting so I could get my feet wet again, pun intended, only to find a BUNCH of "No parking signs" on the North end of the lake where folks used to be able to park off the shoulder out of everyones way.

This is has always been a pet peeve of mine on RR. The lack of access on the lake is a disgrace to the common man without a twenty foot boat with a 100 HP Motor than can safely traverse the big part of the lake to get to the North End. The average guy like me with a medium size jon boat has no place to put in where you do not have to take a big boat ride. We used to park on the shoulder of 922 and carry our jon boat down to the water and go about our business. Got checked by the Game Warden several times a year with no issues. But now it appears we can no longer access the lake at these areas.

If I am mistaken someone please enlighten me and I will stand corrected.

Did they change the hunting accesses? Because that lake used to have something like 20 of them. You may need to poke around more in the maps.

Exactly. I will not tolerate trolling of the OP or the post because it names a lake.

A mix of no parking signs have always been there. I know at least one of those bridges on one side on one end does not have a sign. One has a sign that only says no parking on bridge. Others are an arrow that points off the road and you wonder what it even means. And there is one or two that has a parking area off the road nearby. And I think it was there that one I drop my gear at the bridge and park on the shoulder up the road past the sign. Some bridges around that lake that should be good access to the lake are not designated hunting access points and will get you a ticket. Some that are designated access points are near impossible to use. Nothing new there. Just the nature of the game and not such a bad thing if you use it to your advantage. The trick is to find a way to take advantage of the areas difficult to enter or access and avoid the areas that are easy.

I was not duck hunting 15 years ago so I cannot compare the time periods but I will say here and now....that lake has PLENTY of access. Too much for me...and I still hunt it mind you. Without that 20 ft boat and big motor there's plenty of places to get to where your referring too. Yes the wind will be a factor but most days I'm wishing for more wind than not. Gotta get a little creative.
