Hello,
I would like to have a GPS to use in New Mexico when I am prospecting. It mostly involves knowing where I am going to drive to (lat & long) then I get out and hike into the area I want to look over.
A lot of the roads aren't on a regular map but are on topo maps.
Could somebody recommend a GPS and software that would get the job done and not break the bank?
Thanks.

Can't help you on the GPS, but from your comment I would recommend finding the Historical Atlas of New Mexico . I haven't seen our copy in a few years, but it had a lot of information that I think you might be interested in.

Garmin, loaded with their topo maps, http://www.garmin.com/en-US/maps/updates/?/outdoor. I am a geologist and use mine constantly for driving & leases. Get the lifetime update too.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.
