Hunting in the post oak area in north Texas. Seems like the deer hit the corn pretty hard before the acorns drop. Have a really good food plot here of about 5 acres. The deer just come thru and nibble on it and keep on going. The nearest wheat field to our 320acres is about a mile away in each direction.

Just curious how ya'lol think a deers choice of food progresses through the fall and into the winter months? Corn, Acorns, then wheat and corn?

Normally this food plot is loaded with does. Haven't seen hardly any since the acorns fell. Only lots of bucks and spikes walking thru. They aren't touching the corn much either.

We're having the opposite; deer seem to be starving in Kimble Co. As soon as I corn the road they show up and then there's 15-20 at the feeder. Not skinny just hungry. We feed year round.

In Young county, I'm getting lots of action on the oat food plots and protein feeders, not much on the corn.

Ya I have about a bag of corn under my feeder. They just aren't touching it. Thinking normally it's a pretty good cold snap and the acorns drop pretty fast. Maybe they are just slow to drop this year with the warmer weather and the deer are staying on em

I have little activity on corn feeders for past two weeks or so. Watched several deer cruise right past them.

We have had a fair amount of rain in the Concho Valley, and warm weather so there is a good supply of native brows. Corn is slower than normal. They will show up more after a killing frost. I usually give them protein beginning first part of December. Bucks come to it better at that time than they do corn.. Or that has been my experience. Oh yeah, acorns are purdy much done, but pecans are starting to fall...
