As title says. It was the size of a quarter on the underside of the skin in the white connecting tissue. I poked it and white puss or grease like stuff came out, not very much maybe a teaspoon. Anyone ever seen that? I cut if off and continued cleaning. Meat was fine and there was no anell.

Back when I cleaned them I saw it a lot. Usually a mesquite thorn or prickly pear thorn that got infected.

I don't think i would have cut that open but cool find Believe me....I wish I hadn't! It's been years ago...but I still gag a little when I look at it. The contents of that wound smelled so foul...words are not adequate to describe it.

I don't care what the meat smells like I would not eat it. My uncle shot a mule deer few years back Wich had a puss pocket 22 cal inside. He made the mistake of cleaning without gloves , earlier he had gotten a splinter chopping wood . Long story short it gave him a bacteria that caused permanent nerve damage to his hand. I don't post much , just wanted to warn someone because he still is limited with the use of his hand.

I just finished eating lunch about 5 minutes before seeing this. Wish I had never opened it now.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Not even myself would make sausage out of that!
I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

Joe Shelby Langford, who owned the Mills County locker for many years, refused hogs for those very reasons. Said you'd be cutting one and hit one of those (or one internal to the meat) and you had to tear down and disinfect everything.
