This past weekend wasn't much for deer hunting, cool mornings and hot afternoon along with a late rising moon had the deer all messed up. I did however connect with a cat and a yote.

Cat crossed my path Sunday night about 60 yards ahead. I didn't pay much attention and kept walking. I got to a small clearing and shined my light and found a set of eyes in the brush about 25 yards away. With the cheap light I had I couldn't make a visual without looking through optics. A quick peek through my scope revealed a mix bobcat staring at me. 1 second later he was down. Had to make a standing shot while holding a light at 25 yards. 178gr ELDX 30-06 left a pretty big hole, but some how he was still breathing but paralyzed. Not wanting him to suffer I sent anothe round his way. Had to crawl on my belly to get him, which was a little bit spooky, felt very vulnerable.
Dropped him off at the taxi for a rug. He went 29.2lbs on a fish scale, which I figure was a little heavy because fisherman always lie.

The coyote wasn't near as interesting. 130-140 yard shot with him trotting away. Once again the 30-06 did its job.

I'd say you had an excellent predator hunt. Way to go.
