Got set up on a cove Sunday morning, first hunt of the year after scouting all day Saturday, found a bunch of birds and was pumped. To make a long story short there were 3 walk in groups, us included, set up well spaced out and well before LST. At 6:15, mud motor boat #1 comes bouncing off stumps and killing the engine repeatedly in the middle of the cove, finally shutting it down and start setting up to hunt right at LST. At 7:15 mud motor boat #2 comes sputtering up the cove, stopping the motor several times and yelling to each other where they wanted to set up, almost 15 minutes spent driving around, motor on, 45 mins after legal, in the middle of the cove. I must be getting older because I just stood in my decoys and laughed, instead of wanting to put a hole in their boats.

I don't know what possesses some people, I posted to laugh about it, and in the off chance one of them read this.. hell it won't do any good anyway

Good times- did they also shine a 10,000 lumen LED rack on you repeatedly? That's one of my favorite moves.

Seems like the majority of these posts are from N. TX guys. Does the rest of the state have these types of jackwagons or are we the lucky ones?

We have them on the coast down here as well not a lot

We have a lot of people hunting blinds that ain't there's. Although technically it's everyone's since its public land but just the etiquette that goes behind it and

I would rather have someone come up to me in my blind and say hey I saw the birds here yesterday it's just two of us , do you mind if we hunt together vs setting up 100 yards away and competing instead of working together

Not this time.. it was light already when they were showing up, no need for the LED's haha. And it's funny, I've hunted N Texas public for 10 years now and almost never have had any issues, I usually read y'alls posts and laugh. I guess we were due

Maybe the cancellation of the duck dynasty show will aid in excess traffic. I can give you the names of 10 people who started hunting because that show and they're only in it for the cool picture to post on Facebook of a stack of birds and face paint. I personally hunt public just cause I don't have much access to private land, and I have my fair share of run ins with the village idiots. Mostly on Pines, Fork and other East Texas lakes. Heck last season we had a hole scouted out and were real pumped about it. Got to the lake, and were the only ones hunting it that day (it's a smaller lake). About 15 minutes before light, two guys pull up and push their canoe into the water, paddles to less than 50 yards from us, and starts setting out decoys. They were standing out in the open hoping ducks would fall into their spread but all they did was flair birds off from them and us. They weren't there an hour before they picked up and paddled back to give up. We ended up 2 shy of a 3 man limit.
I've learned that no matter what you've seen at the lake, there will ALWAYS be some idiot that surprises you.

Wow, that is frustrating! Sorry they messed everything up but glad you were able to find humor in the situation instead of letting it ruin your day.
