Could you shape a turkey out of hamburger? Make turkey chili? Use a chicken and call it a young turkey? Cook a bunch of turkey frozen dinners and just put them on a platter ?

I'm... frugal, and I'm pretty sure I could do any of those tings although I probably wouldn't. Turkey isn't exactly expensive.

If you are single like me or a small family, you can always just buy a turkey breast for Thanksgiving dinner. No need to buy and cook a whole turkey.

I plucked 4 ducks for thanksgiving dinner.. two $2 cans of green beans, 2 cans of corn, $6 bag of rolls, and the woman makes mackandcheese and stuffing.. done around $20

Turkey is about 49 cents a pound. That's cheap. It should be about a nickle a pound.

HEB was running a special buy a turkey and get a free spiral cut ham ... not sure if that has ended. I am not overly fond of turkey or chicken, so once a year is plenty for me.

HEB was running a special buy a turkey and get a free spiral cut ham ... not sure if that has ended. I am not overly fond of turkey or chicken, so once a year is plenty for me. No you have it backwards, buy the stupid expensive spiral ham get a free turkey. The turkey is so cheap no reason to by the spiral cut ham.
