I know this will sound weird but had some green bean casserole today as I strolled through Sams Club. Had to go back and ask "what is in this" and here is what they had done.

Regular green bean casserole recipe with green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and French's Fried Onions...but...then they added a 1/2 cup of chopped portabella mushrooms cooked with 1/2 cup breakfast sausage, 1/4 cup bacon. Then added a 1/2 cup gruyere cheese. The lady said you may need more soup and milk but...DAMNNNNN, it was tasty.

Sounds great.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

I don't know what that cheese is but this sounds good, may have to try. Thanks for sharing.

We follow the recipe on Frenchs Onions but then add sour cream and about a cup of Monterey Jack cheese. Also we use the cut green beans instead of the ones it calls for.
