If you see a coyote right after sunrise (prime time) and before you've seen any deer movement, what do you do?

Do you smoke him or let it go so you don't alert any nearby deer?

I shoot every time I have the opportunity, same with hogs. But I hunt a large ranch by myself, so pressure is low. I've had deer come out shortly after I shoot like they don't even care.

If you shoot suppressed it's a much less stressful decision.

If prime time, first or last hour of light they may get a pass but the rest of the time
I give them a dirt nap.

On my place, a coyote never gets a pass. Never, ever....

Gunfire doesn't seem to bother the deer much. A couple of years ago I was working up loads at my 100 yard range, and noticed an 8 point buck eating acorns and watching me. And another time I was shooting on the range, a doe came out of the woods and walked to a corn feeder in the yard. She had to walk between me and the target. I had to hold off on a shot because I thought she'd walk in front of the bullet.

I shot 2 coyotes opening morning just at daylight right in front of the feeder pen. No coyote gets a pass on our place.

I don't shoot coyotes. We don't seem to have very many, and it's not worth messing up a hunt.

Hogs....there's gonna be lead flying. I've also had instances where I've shot a hog and a spike on another occasion where deer come out shortly after, sniff them a bit and then commence to eating corn.

It's an inner dilemma I guess....something about that first 30-45 minutes of light where it feels like something special is going to happen so I don't want to mess it up.

It's amazing what a slow moving 208 grain A-max will do to a coyote's head.

Yeah....Father in law has been seeing packs of them and that's what is worrying me...the fawn crop. I just haven't been seeing them while I'm out there. We've done a good job of letting the bucks grow up and reaching full potebtial and seeing a variety of solid mature bucks.

Oh, and PETA sucks!

When they're eating fawns, they're messing up a whole lot of future hunts.

I've seen 2 in hundreds of hours in a stand where I can see 20+ acres at a time. I just think we don't have very many in our area.
