ok so I pulled my sd card from the camera and plugged it into my tablet and it cold not read it. brought it home and plugged it into a diff tab. could nit read. plugged it into my computer and still couldn't read.

a few weeks ago this happened to another mini sd card. I replaced it with a new mini sd and been working ever since until today.

I cleaned the card and still don't work.

is it my browning camera or is it something I am doing?

any help or ideas is appreciated!!

My guess would be the card. The darned little thing can be really finicky. A bit of oil from your hands or a bit of dust/dirt is all it takes to take 'em out. Have you tried the mini in a new or different "host" card?

Yes. Usually the mini goes straight from camera into the plastic case. Both tablets accept the mini. Home computer needs the "host" card. Or the bigger the bigger sd card.

SD cards are rather transient and will die over time. I have had some last for years and others last for weeks. It can be frustrating.

I hate the mini-sd cards. They are too small to handle, nearly impossible to handle with gloves, and are fairly fragile, especially their little metal contacts which are barely more than just copper foil.

My guess is that you are damaging contacts somehow, possible at the computer or camera during insertion or removal, or like mikei said, the contacts have somehow become fouled.

What do the contacts look like?

I've been told that if you remove a card while it's trying to save a file (picture or video) it could corrupt the card.

The chances are slim if you're in still mode, but the odds are greater if you're taking videos.

you can reformat it using the camera.

I turn the camera off before removing and replacing cards.

contacts are good still. it is only a few weeks old. no dirt or wear.



So maybe deleting the pics frim the sd from the tablet instead of the camera is messing it up?

Not saying this is happening, but be aware that turning the camera off "while" it is saving a file can corrupt it as well.

Here's a little tip: I always use the same card for each camera once I determine it works and I ALWAYS LEAVE ONE PICTURE/VIDEO ON THE CARD FROM THAT CAMERA (I have never had an issue with a card since leaving one picture from that device)

SD cards have a lifespan. They can become damaged or corrupt. If you have pictures on a corrupt card you want, there is software you can download to recover pictures from it. You too can usually recover recently deleted pictures from a card with the same software. If you want to recover pictures from a card, don't format the card again it until you do.

When I am on a vacation or a long hunting trip, I take a lot of pictures. I have had a card become corrupt or stop working before, so I don't use one SD card for the entire trip. After several pictures, I swap the card for another so not to have all my eggs in one basket. I would say too whatever brand and make of card your having trouble with, don't use that same make of card with that camera again.

Obviously nothing lasts forever, SD cards can and do go bad.

Have you tried reformatting the card? If that's successful, try it again but if it gets corrupted a second time, toss it!

I would bet that if you delete the cards using the Browning camera that they will work more consistently. I keep a spare in the truck in case the woodpeckers or whatever requires I replace the camera. It is much easier to delete the cards sitting in my comfy truck than a mounted camera that is in the sun, and I have to bend down and block the sun in order to mess with it.

I have standardized on the Browning line for that reason.

My cameras use standard sized SD cards and .JPG format for pictures or I don't buy them.
I usually check them every day or two so there is lots of card changing going on.
I have found that the contacts wear over time and eventually go bad or the little write protect tab falls out, rendering them useless.
To cure the write protect tab problem, I superglue then in the write position when they are new.
That solved lots of problems right there - not only doesn't fall out but always remains in the write position.
I now at least a few of you guys have accidently hit that little tab and the camera can't write to the card.

To help combat the contact wear, I have switched to all MicroSD cards inserted in the standard size SD host adapter.
When the contacts on the host go bad, I just chunk the adapter and keep the MicroSD card.
The host cards run about a buck each on ebay, delivered.

I have 14 4Gb memory cards running in 5 different cameras with 3 different brands.
I just swap them in the field and view in comfort of living room.
I read, delete and format them when needed on my PC running Ubuntu without problems.

That's getting serious right there. I change cards on 4 cameras two times a week. Usually get less than a years life out of the cards. Perfect solution thanks
