I was loading up some 130 VLDs for a mule deer hunt. Picked up the last bullet in the box and I noticed it felt wrong. Not sure how I even noticed but it looked a little different. Weighed it and it's a 140. I've never bought any 140s so no way I could have done it. Started weighing all the loaded shells and I get a 20 grain variance across the ammo. Starting to think I have figured out why I get a near ragged hole and then get a weird flier. Calling Berger Monday. Hopefully it's an isolated incident but they need to know so they can look into it. I've used a fair amount of Bergers and never had this happen.

Never had it happen to me personally. I have no doubt, Berger will make it right.

I'm not looking for anything from them and I'm not gonna stop using them. But they need to know.

I'd bet they send you a box or two of bullets for free. Especially since you are contacting them with good intentions.

I had similar experience with two other mfg. Had a box of Sierra GK 165's that had a 150 in it. I just tossed it. A box of Speer 120 gr 257's was mis-labeled. It was full of their 100 gr bullets. They replaced it with 2 boxes of the correct bullet.
I'm guessing in the case of only one 'wrong' bullet, one got stuck on the belt somewhere and fell in the box when it was filled. But who really knows. Maybe someone on a friday just before beer-thirty wanting to mess with a customer. Who knows.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Had a similar issue with Sierra a while back had a .308 in a box of .311.
They were very concerned. .i shipped them the wrong bullet and box. They sent me a new full box no charge.
No doubt Berger makes this right.

That's still concerning......... What caused the 20 grain variance? eeks333

I weighed about 20 pieces of brass (mixed) and they were mostly about the same but a few stamped RP weighed 15 or so heavier. All my powder charges were identical 55.0.

Called Berger. They took down the lot# and he said it happens on occasion. They get caught in some cleaner thing and can drop down (I have no idea). Anyway, got a free loading manual even though I told him I didn't need anything.
