My kid got drawn for the dec 3 jr hunt.

Hunted there a couple years ago. Layout will depend on where in the park you get placed. They had box blinds with feeders setup. Most shots were no more than 35-40 yards at most as the same setup was used for the Archery hunt just before the hunt I was on. Bottoms is where the larger deer were running when I was there. It is a little thicker with a mixture of Oak and Mesquite trees. If it rains hard they may not hunt those blinds. I took a mature doe the second day as it was an anterless hunt but seen several bucks with biggest in the 8-10 pt range. They had cabins in the park you could rent. The guys there put on a good hunt and you guys should have fun.

The park is surrounded by some pretty big rolling hills. You come down a pretty big grade coming into the park. The year I hunted was the last big ice storm that hit Dallas. They had a semi wreck the morning of the hunt coming down the hill. The "bottoms" are an area where the hills drain down into creek which drains into the lake. So yes it is the lowest topology relatively speaking but it is not necessarily the closest to the lake. I believe the camping area is actually closest to the lake. It is a pretty area in general. Be aware also there is quite a bit of cactus in the park also. If you look at google maps there is a tree line that cuts down through the middle of the park. The bottoms area is to the south of the gate. I hunted one day there and took a doe. I also took another doe in the area to the north west of the gate closer to the lake past the water treatment pond.
