My father gave me a knife made by John Christopher Black with the guard and pommel engraved by J.R. French. I am familiar with Mr. French and his work, but not by Mr. Black. Can anyone give me any info on him or his knives? The knife was a find when my father ran a pawn shop. The blade is marked BLACK and came with a business card from the maker. However, it was from before the time of the internet and the number (that was printed without an area code..dated) is no longer in service. I would simply like to know more about what I have. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!! Matt
The psycho nut bags have always been there. They just get better press now. Take away their guns, they'll use knives. Take away their knives and they'll use sticks!!

I know James Black from 1830: Black made the famous Bowie knife for Jim Bowie
