...deer is ready but I asked how many boxes, he said 1 (16x14x11). It's been a long time since I've taken a deer to the processor but dropping off quarters, straps and neck from a 212lbs deer, which was about 70lbs in the cooler....seemed a little light.

This is what I asked for:
(2) dz tamales
(2) lbs of beef sticks
(4) lbs of chili meat
Remaining in burger

PickKing the meat up tomorrow but am I just be overzealous on what I should have expected?

So 6 lbs of requested meat plus the 2 dz tamales (maybe a pound or two at most there), I would expect the hamburger to be mixed with something to give a little more fat, so I would think about 25-30 lb of meat.

My guess is the cooler weight was slightly over-estimated, and the processor wasn;t overly careful with the processing job on the quarters and neck, leaving a lot on the bone for ease and quickness. MIx a little pork or fat in with the meat and that'll leave about 25-30 lbs of burger. I may be way off.

What processor did you use?

Cinnamon Creek.....I may get there and be totally pleased and surprised but I guess I just "assumed" everything would not fit in a single box.

I killed a 115 lb field dressed hill country buck last year and couldn't fit all the meat I got back in a 40 QT yeti

They will fit about 35-40 lbs easily in a box there.

How long ago did you drop off?

Wondering if I should call about mine I left about 2-3 weeks ago...

It should be more than that. Boxed meat I usually get 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 boxes that size depending on how much sausage/burger meat I want. Since they mix pork in with the sausage a lot of sausage will cause it to be over 2 boxes.

I guess it depends on the size of the box now, doesn't it?

Inside dimensions on a 45 qt yeti are 9.5 x 18.5 x 10"

There's a lot of insulation around that cooler.

If it 11 wide 14 long and 16 tall you could fit quite a bit of meat in it

In my opinion (which ain't worth the paper its written on) that's the only way to get a yeti bang

Pretty small box for that size of deer. I would expect 2 boxes at least. I normally butterfly back straps, keep tenderloins, cut the balance to be made in tenderized cutlets and balance in bacon burger. That is just for a big doe. So 1.5 to 2 boxes easy. Especially that sized box.

It took 2 1/2 weeks to get the call that it was ready.
