Looking to get a 2012-2014 EZGO 48V cart. Plan on buying a stock one w/good batteries & install lift, tires, wheels, flip rear seat & maybe motor/controller upgrades. Buying this so my daughter can run around the 'neighborhood' & for hunting. I see TXT, RXV, PDS, etc. Which should I get for my needs? Thanks!

A TXT is most popular. Get a cart that is a series style instead of a PDS.

1. don't rule out Club Car.
2. find a service guy close and ask his opinions
3. the all-sports a-arm lift is much smoother than the jakes spindle.


You should give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars your from Texas.

I built a dedicated electric hunting buggy in 2013. Only thing remaining from the original golf cart is the frame and body. It has been great, but has come with many "lessons learned." I work it hard in steep and rocky terrain, and it has hauled two men and 400lb of feed many times. Also gets turned into the "meat wagon" at the lease since everybody likes to sneak in and retrieve animals.

My advice, in order.
1. Although the aluminum club cars are lighter, the aluminum frames do not hold up well to repeated rough off road vibration unless they are gusseted and beefed up. The frame will crack eventually. Go with a steel-framed EZ go unless you plan to run it on the beach alot. Or, if you do go with Club Car have a good aluminum welder beef it up first.

2. A series cart does much better with prolonged slow speeds, heavy loads (typical hunting), and hot temps. The PDS carts WILL get hot and you risk burning stuff up.

3. Spend the money to upgrade the electrical infrastructure first. Minimum 4 ga cables (2 ga better), 400 amp controller, HD solenoid.

4. If you will run this thing off road much spend the money for an ATV-style long travel lift kit up front. A standard golf cart lift kit will beat you up pretty good otherwise.

With all that said, I have a great electric hunting vehicle, in it for less than half what it would have cost me to buy one of the pre-mades. Good luck and have fun! LFD-I put a guide together for some buddies who were looking into building them, be happy to send it to you.

We have an EZ-GO with lift. Nice little rig. Used it mainly when we go to sporting clay events or shotgun shooting sports events in general, or just to drive around the lake camp. It couldn't handle my hunting trails though...I need to get another atv again...or atleast attempt to fix my ol Honda rancher.

Get a PDS, much easier to soup up, just plug in a module.

TXT... try to find one with a posi-trac rear end already installed. With a lift kit and good tires will take you just about any place you want to go. I've had mine for 8 years now and had it stuck one time.
