Tend to stay too busy like most of us do but this weekend I took my daughter to the ranch and we had fun. She just turned 7. We sat in a big wheat field and watched deer. Of course lots of questions on why we couldn't shoot certain deer.

SHe got to watch some young bucks do some fighting and a fawn following and sucking from mama. I got her a savage rascal last year that we practiced shooting. So earlier that day we did some practicing again and all day she "just wanted to shoot a rabbit" so after our stand we took the long way back home in the ranger. She shot this jack and was over the moon happy. We pulled up to the skinning racks like we had a big buck in the back and she got to show it off to all the men around the cook house.

After we cooked the Catfish she had caught a few weeks before,

we went back out and she asked if we could lay "Bun Bun" under a tree and say a prayer, I told her of course and that I usually say a thank you prayer for most game animals I take. so we found the perfect tree and did just that. She asked the Lord to take bun bun to heaven and thanked him for teaching us how to shoot, respect for guns and how he would be food for predators. Must have gotten something in my eyes on the ride cause they were watering a little bit. I told her she never had to shoot another living creature if she chose not to, she could just shoot targets or never shoot again if she didn't want to. She gave me a big hug and said ok and ran back to the ranger. When we got in I asked her what she wanted to do, she said "find another rabbit, coon, skunk or fox to shoot" Special times, I just hope I remember to slow down more often.
