Finally got out to the range with the wife's new 6x45. Man that is a sweet lil gun. I think it's the ultimate kids gun or recoil sensitive WT round within 200yds. The X-caliber bbl I chose in a 16" & 1-10" shot every load using a 58gr v-max to 85gr partition under 1" @ 100yds. Recoil is identical to the 223. I'll be posting some pics and groups soon.

6x45? Is this a new wildcat or an older unicorn? How's it compare to the .243?
Sounds interesting.

Sounds interesting. 6mm x .223/5.56

It's actually been around for some time, it's an old BR round. I just discovered it a lil over year ago but had to save up for the build. I'm getting nearly identical velocity as the managed recoil rounds in 243 for the mid 80gr pills, 2600-2800fps out of a 16" bbl. Easy peasy to reload one pass thru my small base die to open up the neck and that's it.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Like jorge said its been around for years. Very similar to the 6.8/6.5 grendel/300blk. The parent case is a 223 but loaded with 6mm bullets. Makes more sense if you call it a 6mm-223. Velocities are quite a bit lower than a 243, ~26-2700fps. But just like the grendel and blk, there is a significant loss in recoil while still shooting a 6mm round.

Mine is a custom lower (GA Outdoors Trader group buy) from Zombie Defense with a Black Hole Weaponry barrel. Like yours it eats everything I feed it and spits it out into tiny groups.
Mine has a particular love for the now-discontinued Sierra 80 grain Single-Shot Pistol bullets. They were designed to perform at the lower velocities achieved from Single Shot pistols. Mine are running right around 2700 fps out of a 20" barrel and they expand great from 10-300 yards (very non-scientific testing). I have shot 3 deer with it and it performed great each time.
As for target shooting with it, it is almost boring.

I have owned 4 6X45's three were custom built AR's and I also have a Cooper Bolt gun. Great round that should be standardized IMO. I have shot untold number of coyotes and several deer and hogs with various bullets

My bolt gun with 22" barrel is sending 85 grain SGKs out around 2705 FPS. Mild recoil, accurate, easy to load, and an extremely effective round.

My everyday hunting rifle for years was built on a remington 700sa in 6x45 improved. The 80gr sierra blits at 3050fps has killed everything it has been pointed at! Definitely a favorite.....
