Like all of my animals this one has a name to. First time I got game cam pics of him I called him a “BMF Boar” and the name kind of stuck. The “B” stands for “big” and you will have to use your imagination to figure out the “M” and “F” part. The afternoon of Friday the 11th I climbed up into my tripod that is not usually known for a good pig stand. The north wind just didn’t leave me a whole lot of choice though. I saw quite a few deer and even saw 11 Turkey which is pretty rare for my area but around 5:45pm I was about to get a surprise. I had 2 Does at my far feeder which is about 250 yards away and 2 in the creek bottom as well. At about 5:45pm the 2 Does at my far feeder looked to the east and then took off running. I figured it had to be pigs because I have seen that reaction far to often already this season so I picked up my rifle and got ready. After a few minutes nothing happened so I lowered my rifle and then of course they came streaming out of the brush. By the time they finished making their way out of the cedars there were 18-20 of them which is probably the biggest group I have ever seen on the place. It didn’t take me long to recognize BMF not only because of this size but also because of the huge split in his left ear. It took me a few minutes to get a clear shot at him because of all of the other ones running around but when I got my chance I sent a 180gr Nosler Partition from the 300 Ultra Mag his way and he dropped in his tracks right in the biggest nastiest mud hole in Coke county! As I made my way up the mountain to take a look at him I could hear all the other ones in the creek growling non stop as I headed his way but thankfully they didn’t make me shoot them as well. Once I made my way up the mountain and walked up on him I was stunned at how thick his front shoulders were! I have killed some really big pigs over the years but the shoulders on this one were in a class all their own. On top of that his cutters were far better than I thought as well. After admiring him for a minute or two I layed the rifle down so I could drag him out of the mud hole to get some pics. After moving him about 3’ I decided that was far enough and went back for the ATV and then back to camp for a trailer knowing dang good and well there was no way on earth I was getting that beast up on a ATV alone. On the way back I was brain storming on how to get him off the mountain and decided I would need 2 straps and possibly a ladder. After hooking up the trailer and gabbing what I might need I was on my way back out to attempt the impossible. The drive back out and up the mountain took me over 30 minutes to reach him and when I did I backed the trailer up to him and attempted to drag him up on to the trailer by the rear legs like I have done many pigs before that were too big to load on a ATV. After a couple of attempts it became clear that wasn’t going to work so I resorted to Plan B which would include the ladder. I laid the ladder beside him and flopped him over on it then backed up the trailer to the top of the ladder. I picked up the top of the ladder and rested it on the back of the trailer and then picked up the bottom of the ladder and tried to shove him up on to the trailer like loading a person into the back of an ambulance……..that didn’t work either. So with the top of the ladder still rested on the trailer and the bottom rested on the ground I decided to start the ATV and throw it in reverse to try and shove him up on the trailer that way. Once I got him at a pretty steep angle that way I was able to put the parking brake on and then lift the bottom of the ladder and shove him the rest of the way by hand. After strapping him down it was time to haul him off the mountain and back to camp. From the time I shot him till the time I got him back to camp it had taken almost 2.5 hours! After eating dinner it was getting late so I decided to just set him up over night in the position I wanted him for pictures and just do the pics the next morning. He is actually coal black all over but some of the morning pics make him look kind of red. The reason for that is we had a very bright orange sun rise that morning. Anyway that’s the story of BMF. And that pretty CAT hat I have on was courtesy of my new best friend and is now my lucky hunting cap.

Thanks for the post and good story. Enjoy the sausage....
I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

Man, I bet having those cutters rip through your thigh would feel really good.
Wait, no. The opposite. I was meaning to say, "not good". Anyhow, you get the gist.

That last picture is pretty impressive. I'd be tempted to get a taxi to mount him just like that, mud and all.
Congrats!
