I want one, so I wanted to reach out to y'all to get some recommendations. I'd have it in my garage, and have about a $5,000 budget. Of course, would happily pay much less. What suggestions do you have?

I've been to a couple of leases that had walk in coolers but I've never heard of walk in freezers. How do you plan to use it?

We have a big family and by the time hunting season is over, we have three chest freezers full of game. I don't like chest freezers because of the difficulty finding the various cuts of meat etc. stand up freezers just don't last very long and I've been burned twice by them.

I'd like to use it simply for frozen storage.

My stand up freezer is 50 years old and still works fine. I'll be happy to take some chili meat off your hands.

Prepare for a higher electrical bill once you start this unit, running 24/7 will use some
power. For myself we just have large upright freezer, yes chest freezers hide foods that
you want, or organized game from other items, veggies, sweets, etc.....

we have 2 large upright freezers (one in the house, one in the garage), both Kenmore, but also both are over 30 years old. We also have a large refrigerator with freezer on top for drinks and overflow freezer space in the garage too. With a budget of $5k, could buy several good upright freezers and allow for replacement years down the road.

The electric cost would blow your budget over a few years. I'm guessing $100-$150 per month. If anyone on here runs a commercial type fridge or freezer, maybe they can chime in. I've got an old coke machine that costs $35 a month on electricity. That's why it's not plugged in anymore...

We use milk crates to organize our chest freezers they stack well and leave room for empty corn bags to hold the little 1 lb bags of burger.

Do you want long term storage or just to hold deer during deer season? If it's the later option check out the coolbot system and make you own walk in cooler.

There's a difference in a walk in cooler and a walk in freezer.

Im in the food/catering world and a walk in freezer is going to set you back a a bit plus the energy cost...We use stand alone freezers..remember if that big guy goes out all is lost..If you have 2 or 3 smaller units you only lose the one that goes out..and in most cases if its over night and the door is shut you are fine for 48 hrs....I think you are spending too much on one unit and could be using that money for additional meats...I have a Kenmore stand up in my garage and it has been running for 12 years straight...
