I had the pleasure of spending 17 days last year. Did not know it till then but I saw him write several tickets over that period for transporting ungutted deer on a state maintained road. When I asked him about it he's reply was it was to help prevent road hunting. WHAAAAAAT!

I do not know what the obsession is with the new "no-gut" craze, I have done it....meh. It takes all of of one minute to gut a deer and make the rest of the process even easier. I am not squeamish.

I just don't understand the non-gutting? A person spends all that time getting ready for the season, not to mention the money for feed, ammo, and whatever else and can't take 5 minuets max to care for the meat? Either gut the deer, or skin it like the prior post mentioned just can't be that much of an issue. Personally I gut, as I like the liver and heart.
I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

I can also get the liver and heart without gutting the deer lol.. its faster.. cleaner... easier.. unless your taking it to a processor then yes... gut it or spend the $20..

Real smart men hang them in a tree, skin'em with the jeep, yank out the backstraps and quarter it out. No hair, no guts and no fuss. My son shot a doe this weekend and my wife had the pleasure of watching the cleaning job. At the end she said that looks a lot easier than the way my dad does it and no hair to wash off the meat. She told her friends how easy it was and that they should shoot a deer to and I would have it in the cooler in a few minutes. That's when I jumped in "Now hold on, did you see me shoot a deer? Do you want to know why? I'm going to tell you, I got a hangover and if I had been awake i probably would have made up an excuse why the boy shouldn't shoot." Shot went off, I opened my and looked at my boy and asked if he hit the deer he said yep. I said "dang... good job" I almost left the good job part out. He said he didn't think the deer was going to give him a shot cause I was snoring to loud.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

I have never found gutting to be that hard or messy of a task. Many on here brag about being able to gut a deer in less than 1 minute. Most people I have ever seen take longer than that to hang a deer.
Like everything else in life there isn't one wrong or right way. At our ranch we take whole dead weight, and dressed weights of all deer, pull teeth on them and every buck is scored for record keeping. We save the flank and meet between ribs for burger/sausage grind.
It's hell eatin em live
