I've been thinking about picking one up, but was just curious about a couple of things.

My first concern is it being a Compact. How much of a difference will that 1.5" length of pull mean to a guy that is 6'0"?

Secondly, how does it compare to a Savage 11?

Thanks.

Don't have any experience with Savage rifles and I'm shorter than you but I love mine. 7mm08 compact. Very light and easy to handle.

My son shoots a 308 Compact. Bought originally for his children. (I found them a left handed stainless compact Ruger in 243 so he has taken over the 308)...He loves it. Very handy in a cramped deer blind. It is a sub 1" shooter...don't think you can beat it for the price.

I just picked up a compact ruger american in 7mm-08. I'm 6'2" with the shorter stock there is a definite difference. Haven't shot it yet. I do like the "compactness" and that's why I bought it, feels like a nice handy rifle.

Thanks guys. CDNN has a left-handed .308 Compact stainless for $300. There's a $25 FFL fee, $20 shipping fee, and about $25 in taxes. That would have me up to $370. I'm not quite sure if that is the money to spend on that rifle, or just hold out for a Gunsite Scout. I'm kind of bummed it doesn't have iron sights.

That's where I got mine lefty also minus the shipping. Cdnn delivered right down the road to my ffl. Scout is nice but 2-3x the price.

I'm 6' but I have a big wingspan. I have the regular model in 7mm-08 and it seems small to me. The compact must feel like a toy.

I imagine the compact would make a nice truck gun!

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

That's what I'm talking about.

I am considering scoping it with a cheapish UTC bug buster and keeping it handy in my lockable truck storage.

X2 on the Predator due to the heavier barrel.
