That price for a FFP scope is hard to beat. Never looked through one though...

Some levels have better glass. I looked at them but it was to hard to judge inside a building

I have limited use with the high end FFP Cronus model as well as the Midas BTR SFP model.

The Cronus I took out to 1650 yards and it performed as advertised clicks are more tactile than the turrets on the Midas model. Glass seems good not stellar but for money spent I am not expecting Swaro glass just solid performance and optically not disappointing...... like I have been with some of the Vortex Viper/ Trijicon stuff for the prices paid.

The 6-24x50 Argos BTR is on Amazon for $315 shipped. I might have to take a run at it.

I've read reviews comparing it to the Bushnell DMR, Burris XTR, Sightron SII, Vortex PST, and they all say the Athlon is just as good with on par or better glass.

Come on, really? A quarter of the price and it's better?

Me too, I might write an in depth review. I can't seem to find one, just forum posts of people saying they are great.

I am trying to decide between an Athlon Argos 6-24x50 and a SWFA 3-15x42.

I wonder how they stack up.

That new Ares they are talking about sounds awesome, especially the 2.5-15x ffp model.

Scroll down to the posts by "frostyline". There is a video he posted and in the next post after the video he mentions the new Ares BTR model.

Thanks!

Man, that new scope with HD glass in FFP, I'm buying that for sure!

I put a 4-20x50 Argos with the BDC reticle on my Creedmoor, for the price it's hard to beat. I was banging steel yesterday out to 600 with it, which is about the max that BDC reticle will go. My son was also hitting steel consistently out to 350 yards.

For the money, I'd have no issues recommending the scope.

Thanks for the update! I just pulled the trigger on a 6-24x50 Argos BTR. I have a Vortex Viper PST FFP 6-24x50 and I really want to do a side by side comparison. Shipped from Amazon the scope was $340, with all those features that is a crazy good price.

I wonder how they are able to get that price so low? If it's cheaper parts or they are cutting huge costs to take market share, I really don't know. However, they are selling a ton of scopes so they should be around awhile. If they keep selling scopes at the rate they are I am sure the prices will start to increase.

I was impressed with the quality of the glass in the Midas and Cronus lines of Athlon when I looked through several of them a few months ago. I'm going to buy a Cronus, but it'll have to wait a little while.
Optics Planet has a 10% off coupon that ends today,so I went ahead and ordered a Midas 4.5-27x50 with the APLR1 reticle. I'll see how it compares to the Sightron SIII scopes that I use.

Nice! I wish the Midas came in FFP. I'm glad they are working on a scope with HD glass and is FFP. When it comes out I am buying it for sure.

Let us know what you think when you get it and run it some. I was looking at them last night. The new model they have coming sounds interesting too. I think they said February on it.

I actually prefer SFP scopes,in todays age they are just as easy to use for most types of shooting that I do.

I have to 100% agree with Txhillbilly about preferring SFP scopes. I fully understand the difference in FFP vs SFP but simply fail to see the advantage. The Athlon Midas is a great mid priced value.

After shooting FFP scopes I'll never go back to SFP.

When I shot a SFP scope I used to always keep my scope at max power so I knew the dimensions of the markings/mil dots.

With FFP the "1 mil" mark is always 1 mil and so on.
