Berger is making a "Match Target" bullet in 115 grain weight. I know the stupidity of using target bullets in hunting situations, but I wonder if those rules would apply at the velocities (2200-2300) I load my 300BLK? Any thoughts or experiences? No expansion at all? More explosive? http://buybergerbullets.3dcartstores.com/30-Cal-115-Gr-FB-Target_p_59.html

Back when you could not get any other light weight 30 cal bullets for the blk out, I bought 30,000 of these 115 grain Target bullets. I loaded up a bunch of test loads, and started shooting them. They shoot very well. Since I have so many of them, I plinked out to 600-700 yards with them, and hunted with them last year. I took several deer and multiple coyotes. The bullet performed very well, and gave exit wounds on everything. Everything dropped and was DRT except one spike that went about 10 feet and dropped. The bullet is a target bullet, so it has a thick target jacket. At the blk out speeds, expansion will be minimal. But everything has dropped and this bullet has been very effective on everything I have shot. I have about 15K remaining of these, so if you want any, let me know. They come in 1K count buckets when you buy them in bulk. If you want loaded ammo you can find my link to 115 Berger ammo here.

Thanks for the info Chad. I've already got 200 of the Sierra 125gr Pro Hunters, and I'm going to the range this week for the initial shooting of this upper assembly. Since this rifle is going to be a "hog only" rifle I'm mainly concerned about that specific application. I'll keep the offer for the Bergers in mind and I do appreciate the offer. Sounds like they might just be the ticket for hogs. My main reason for the inquiry was because I've read from a few sources that the Pro Hunters don't expand at all at these slower velocities.
This little rifle might be a challenge to get the correct bullet for the application in mind .....

All of the 125 grain bullets I load have shown perfect mushroom shaped expansion, including the 125 SP Sierra. It will perform very well for you.
