So I have a 10 ft Jon boat don't plan on hunting from it actually don't plan on getting in it, just want to throw all my groups gear in it and pull it behind us since the water is knee to thigh deep. What do I have to have on board to make legal, it doesn't have lights or any kind of motor.

So i just read on tpwd website, but want to make sure I read correctly, my 10 ft Jon boat maunually powered by paddle, I must have a life jacket for everyone on board? Like mentioned above I don't plan on using it just to pull with all our gear. But since there is paddles in the boat and if I use it to cross 5-6 ft of deep water then I must have life jackets.

Are you using it to tow your gear or actually getting in it? If you get in, then yes, LJ required.

If on public waters during darkness you must have lights too. Walmart or academy sells some decent clamp on lights that run off double a batteries for about 30 bucks
