Was fishing cedar creek yesterday and at 1 at doe came out on shoreline and a giant buck was chasing her. 2 other bucks came out and he ran them off. Watching them for 30 minutes. Full blown rut!

Polk County. Saw 4 bucks. All of them stopped and ate corn for a while. Didn't seem interested in chasing tail yet.

Saw my first deer from the blind since rifle opened this evening about 5 til 6. He went to the feeder and ate for a while. I was trying to decide wether to shoot him or not since I had my daughter in the blind with me but couldn't get him to pick his head up, even grunting at him, to check him out. I finally rattled a lil bit and that got his attention and he came within 30 yards but it was to dark to tell anything by then. I'll go pull card from cam tomorrow and see if I should've shot him. I'm betting he was 15" wide and 7-8" g2's but that's about all I could tell... We shall see tomorrow

It's on in Houston County. I concur.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

You missed the first rut, that occurs in October in Henderson county. I tend to agree with you as I've seen them chasing hard during bow season in Van Zandt county but I still havnt see much chasing here this yr. I'm not sure if the buck I saw last night was cruzing checking for does or just came by for a snack at dark. If he'd came 10 min sooner he may be at the processor I just didn't have enough light to tell much about him.

Hunted Lamar County this weekend, doe came in from one direction and passed through, about 45 minutes later a small buck came in. He got to where I had put out corn and where she'd been, caught her scent and his nose went to the ground and he went to following her out of the meadow. Looks to just be starting up there.

In my experience, you have already missed the peak rut. When I hunted Anderson and Henderson Counties some time ago, peak rut was end of October and you could often rattle bucks up mid October if you were on the right place. The warm weather makes hunting the rut in East Texas tough.
How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

Polk County. Saw 4 bucks. All of them stopped and ate corn for a while. Didn't seem interested in chasing tail yet. In Polk county 2 weeks ago saw 2 mature bucks, one eating corn at the feeder and a glimpse of one with nose to the ground and on the move. Last weekend saw only young bucks just walking through and another person shot a nice 8 by grunting them in. Hoping this weekend is a good one.

I believe that the bucks are ready but that most of the does have not yet come into season. I do believe it is very close.

I've always been told the peak rut in East Texas is Nov. 12. Not sure where this started, but it's always been pretty close in my experience. That's why I took the next 5 days off. Hope my gamble pays off.

I hadn't been seeing much. I did see a small buck chasing a doe this morning, but all the mature bucks we have seen have been seeking, or traveling with determination, not distracted by much. But, they have been walking right by the all the doe/yearling groups that have been out when they walk by. Not even checking them out at all. I have yet to see a buck locked onto a doe and no mature bucks chasing and we have been in the woods quite a bit since the start of bow season.

Rains county- I took a nice buck this morning that was locked onto a doe. When he went down, two smaller bucks ran out and chased that doe all over.

Up on I-30 I have seen bucks chasing this week from Hwy 259 to Sulphur Springs. The boys are girl crazy right now.

Our Biologist said the 2nd week of November is usually the Rut in Walker County.. I hunt Walker County too. Had a young 8 pointer at the feeder opening weekend for about 10 minutes. He raised his head got a whiff of something in the air and took off at a fairly fast pace sniffing the wind all the way out of sight.

I was out in Tyler county last weekend. I saw 2 very fresh scrapes but didn't see any chasing going on. Also saw probably the largest buck I've ever seen on my property checking one of said scrapes. Only problem was it was 5:30 AM so I couldn't take a shot. Had him lit up at 20 yards just staring at us. Tried to find him in daylight for a shot but no luck. I think its just about to really get going.
