Blinds on public? We all know the two sided coin when it comes to publc blinds. There is the camp that says 'don't hunt my blind' and the other camp that says 'don't build on public and it won't get hunted'. This fat has been chewed for decades now. There is no question of of the law. Blinds on public are just that, public. Debating the legalities orthe ethics of that is not the intention of this post.
Tell me your thoughts. A duck blind on a pontoon boat With TX numbers and an LED anchor light. No motor no nothing else. Legal to park with an anchor light, TX numbers make it personal property, not public.
How does the public opinion react?

We used to do this all the time in Illinois on the Mississippi. Rule was if not in the blind 30 min. before legal it was fair game but the blind had to move every 72 hrs. by the length of the blind. Only once did we have a problem with someone in the blind before we got there, but when you hunt with 2 State Troupers and a Federal game warden not much of a problem.

Kind of a silly question. It is titled property. It is yours no one can argue that fact and if they did you just tell them you are hooking up and taking it to the trailer.
Having said all of that...to show up 15min before legal and someone sitting it and expecting them to move is a richardhead move on your part. Really anything less than an hour prior would classify as such in my book.

Wording and actual rule depends on what lake but it would fall under unattended property, or abandoned property. For example if it is a lake that falls under tpwd aphp, you have to be within 200 yards of it otherwise it becomes unattended property.

Thad almost like going to set out the decoys the night before to hold a spot only to show up and someone be near your spot.
Plus anchors and lines come untied sometimes
Never know where the blind might end up at lol.

The following is my opinion.. Public is just that, public. Because someone parked their private property in an effort reserve a spot on public water doesn't make it off limits to whomever shows up first. If you build a permanent blind or park your boat/blind overnight on public water then you take a risk of someone else beating you to it, otherwise you are monopolizing choice spots. I don't believe that permanent blinds should be allowed and everyone should have an equal opportunity to hunt all locations on public water.

When you build a blind you are building for everyone. I have showed up many times to our blinds to have people in them already. Not fit needed. However I do not like when someone leaves there stuff sitting in my blind or decoys out the day before. We have no problem with people beating us to blinds but parking your stuff the night before sucks. But your right you take that chance and every guide down here knows it. It's the people who aren't from the area or the lazy ones that don't get out and scout and put the time and effort into scouting a place.

Was the point just to troll people or did you actually just want opinions so you could kick people in the nuts? I don't understand...if you knew the answer WTF (why not what) did you ask the question? Like I tell my hardheaded wife all the time...don't ask me a question if you already know the answer and just want to argue with me.

The boat is private property, but you are free to setup in that exact same spot in your boat. If blind owner shows up he will have to relocate his blind.
I love how Oklahoma has drawings for locations on their lakes. You get one permit and one location. Most drawings are held at pretty much the same time. So you have to pick your lake and one spot. Randomly drawn, put your permit number on the map.
If you aren't in your blind within 30 minutes of sunrise, anyone can hunt it. Anyone can hunt it at any time, but you can ask them to leave within a certain time period.
Now I understand this might not work so well on lakes near large cities.

There are a couple lakes that do that here. They have both day areas and then blind areas.
