So fun is 16" at-15, 1-8"....

I bought 1000 Winchester 64gr power points and 8lbs of blc-2. Any one have any experience with either or both. Looking for a "full gambit" bullet. Paper, critters, deer and pigs in limited situations. Bigger guns used normally...don't care to discuss .223 for deer.

The bullets you have are very adequate for the use you mentioned. Not sure I would have bought 8# of powder without knowing how it would shoot in my rifle, but BLC-2 is fine for the 223. Start your loads well below the published max and work up in .3 grain increments.

You have a good combo of powder and bullet to start with. Most reloading data listed is for 223 Rem data, which max is about 55K psi. If your AR is 5.56, it is rated at 62K+ psi. You can load to the higher 5.56 pressures, and it will generally shoot better. Loading to 5.56 with 223 Rem data equals about 1 to 1.5 grains more powder. BLC-2 is a slow burning powder for 223, but it should work fine in your application if you load up near max. I wouldn't plan to use lighter loads with this combo. And use magnum primers, like a CCI #450. If you need some, let me know, I have 200K plus of #400 and #450 primers.

I have never had any luck getting decent groups with the Winchester 64gr Power Point. If they were packaged better so the bullets didn't look like they were dragged down the road,maybe they'd shoot better.
Winchester needs to use plastic boxes for their bulk bullets like everyone else does,those plastic bags just don't work.

Winchester packaging sucks for almost everything they make. Most items come beat up and need more work to fix them than it's worth. I have been buying other brands of brass, also, because of this.
