Looking for some solid recommendations in Houston for an anniversary.

Been to Uchi and Pappas Steakhouse in Houston, Eddie V's in Austin, Capitol Grille in Fort Worth, etc.

I had higher hopes for Pappas but was disappointed with the steak and service. It's currently at the bottom of the higher end restaurants I've been to both in and outside of TX... Uchi was fantastic and it was cool to do something other than the typical steakhouse experience however I'm open to anything. Eddie V's and Capitol Grille were also incredible however I'd be open to trying somewhere new or somewhere that I can't find outside of Houston...

Thanks!

State of Grace is good but hard to get reservations at short notice.
Vic and Anthony's is really good, one of the top on my list.
Brennan's of Houston downtown - the turtle soup is pretty good.
Oceanaire Seafood Room in the galleria is really good as well.

Have you tried Underbelly in Houston?
The menu changes all the time depending on what is in season.

We went to El Tiempo's in Houston down by the Astro's ballpark. Really good food. Not a high end steak house though.

Looked up all of the above and think I need more excuses to head up there for dinner!

Will let you know what we end up doing and how it is. Hopefully make it up there this Friday but obviously without reservations yet it may have to wait an extra week.

Any other suggestions appreciated also.

Thanks!

Ooooo, yes. Damian's. Man, that's truly the good stuff. Nobody has mentioned Mark's.

For steak, I'd just go to Pappa's or Vic and Anthony's. And I need a meal at Truluck's. And PF Chang. And the Cadillac Bar. And the Black Walnut, in the back of the Woodlands, for a Greek salad and girl watching.

And here I am in Groesbeck, TX. Ya got your chicken fried, or your burger, or your fried catfish or fried chicken. But hey, in Mexia they have a Whataburger and spicey ketchup. I love the country, but miss the big city food.

Damian's....Yes sir!

Taste of Texas It is amazing great salad bar and great steaks you can actually go in back and pick out your steaks a little pricy but well worth it!
Or if your wanting Brazilian I like Chama gaucha

I like taste of texas but the food didn't compete with the higher end steakhouses in my opinion. Definitely a better value though and on the list to go back to.

Done a few of the brazilians and had mixed opinions depending on where we're at. They are good but not what I'm looking for for a special occasion.

Will look up marks and a bit more into Damians also as recommended above.

Thanks for the continued suggestions!

Mark's is pretty freaking good and the fact that it is in an old church is pretty neat.

Looks like Marks is closed based on what I saw earlier.

Bummer because just about everything I could find on it was good!

If you are out near Katy, Da Vinci's Italian Ristorante is awesome! One of the finest meals I have ever had from the last place you would expect by looking at the outside...

Try Roost or Bistro Provence both are very small seating less than 50 diners and very good.
