Just out of curiosity, how do you get CITES tags and are they for specific species, property, etc., or is a blanket deal where you buy one and you can shoot anything on the list? I know I could look it up myself but the little bit I've seen looked like it would be a long read and I'm feeling kind of lazy anyway.

I haven't gotten any permits yet, but the way it was explained to me is that they are site and animal specific. I can only be issued tags if I have so many of a particular species and then can only kill 20% if I am above the threshold number. The only other exception I know is if I have a small herd and need to switch sires for genetic diversity. I even have to pay a fee of several hundred dollars per tag. Like I said earlier, I can't even kill my own animals. My neighbor certainly can't.

I figured it couldn't be as easy as getting a relatively cheap tag to cover anything that might wander across the fence. Thanks.
