I saw an officer with a 1911 in his holster so I jumped out of the truck to see what he had. I seem to always talk guns with LEO for some reason. I don't know why. I asked what he had and he said Kimber. That just surprised me a little. What do y'all think?
Sorry for the long time silence, just know I miss yall

Know a few that carry 1911's. Just their choice and shoot better with them I guess. I'd prefer extra capacity myself.

On duty I carry a Glock 21. Off duty and plain clothes I carry a 1911.

Most of the officers I see have either a Glock or a Sig. I've seen a few that carry a 1911.

I wonder how many law enforcement agencies give officers a choice v. issue them what they want them to have?

I carry a Glock 21. We issue a Glock 21 or 22, officer's choice. We also authorize other pistols that are 40 or 45 if the officer wants to buy it. We have a few carrying 1911's but most carry Glocks.

Got a good buddy that carries 1911's mostly. Kimber is the primary gun because of cost but I've seen him carry his nighthawk too.

Is it weird that I'll walk up to any of them to talk guns? It, for the most part, like 100% of the time will them off guard tho. I don't jump at em or anything. Lol

I'd say only 50% are really gun people. Suprised by how many don't know much about them. Almost scary.

I carry a Glock 31 .357 sig on duty. I carry a G19 off duty most of the time. I have carried a 1911 and a J frame .38 from time to time.

I went to trick or trunk out in Forney the Saturday before Halloween and one of the Forney officers was carrying a small frame 1911. Maybe a Kimber, my first thought was damn maybe holds 6-7 rounds. With everything going on these days even when I cc I carry my 19 with 15 round mag and maybe an extra mag or two. I figured leo would try to carry as much as possible while still being comfortable.

Our choice of carrying our own brand is slowly going away. I carry a g17 c but sig 320 .40 is slowly being forced down our throat due to 2-3 that make the decision. I would never carry a 1911 due to mag capacity

I would never carry a 1911 due to mag capacity I've noticed over the years the thinking goes in cycles. It goes from "let them carry what they're comfortable with" to "everyone gets the same thing to be uniform and to be able to swap mags in a **** storm" thinking. Back and forth, back and forth... I can see the merits in both arguments, but as an instructor I can tell you which one shows better overall results on the range, and it ain't one size fits all.

How many carry 2? Like an ankle holster or maybe an IWB?
