Is anybody using 75 AMAX in their AR? I wasn't sure they would seat deep enough to fit in a Pmag. I've got a 1:8 twist barrel so it should be stable but didn't want to order some to play with if they won't work well in a mag. Just looking for something that hits harder than the 55s I'm using now.

Think Chad said they can't be seated deep enough to fit enough powder, AND still fit in the Mag. Maybe he, or someone that's attempted it can chime in.

Use a metal mag and load it as long as you can and still fit inside the mag. The AMAXs shoot really nice groups out of my AR Performance 223 Wylde 1/8 twist barrels.

You could load them to mag length but your speed will be pretty dismal. Better to just load 75 Hp or 77gr Sierra MK.

I have only punched paper at with them at 100 yards and while they may have been dismal, they shot nice tiny cloverleafs. That being said, most of the time that particular AR has a mag full of either 68 or 69gr OTMBTs....

Just for everyone's info that reads this; I just called Sierra and the tech said everything 77 grain and under will work in my mag and stabilize in my 1:8" twist. He did recommend the 65 Gameking but only because they do not test the Matchkings on game. He did mention he knows several people that use them on varmints and 1 guy that uses them on whitetail. Think I'm gonna order some 65s before Hildabeast causes a panic.

I shoot the 65gr Gameking and 70gr Speer SP for all of my 223 hunting needs with an AR. The 75 gr AMax cannot be loaded to fit an AR magazine, but the 75gr BTHP can as well as the 77gr BTHP.

You can get the 75 grain A-max to work. BUT... the ogive of the bullet will be below the case mouth (not a good thing) at AR lengths. The polymer tip is just too long. It also seats so deep that it intrudes into the case so far that it will minimize your case capacity, and reduce your speeds. I have tried this bullet in an AR and my Tikka 223 and I didn't like how the bullet loaded and shot, so I won't use it. Go to a HP bullet, and this will solve the issue

Modify the Mag. How much length did you gain and any feeding issues?
