OP Matt Pro Tracker M Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 1,789 The Colony	Due to issues beyond my control, I had to miss opening morning. But I did make the afternoon hunt. We got to my place right at 2:25. I high fived my buddy and he went to his stand and I headed to mine. I always try to keep my head up. You never know what's going to jump and scurry on the way to the blind. I've never seen a shooter deer walking in or out, but I do see doe every so often, so I hold out hope. Well, yesterday it paid off. Just as I got to the blind I saw movement to my left and I froze. Out of the bush calmly walked this guy, 30 yards from me. I dropped to a knee and one shot and 13 minutes after getting out of the truck, my day is done. I know he's not huge. But he's the best I've killed on this place sense I've owned it. He's just over 15" inside. For a southwest red river county buck, he'll do and I'm stoked!! Lesson...always keep your eyes open walking to the blind!! The psycho nut bags have always been there. They just get better press now. Take away their guns, they'll use knives. Take away their knives and they'll use sticks!!
