My wife just bought me a Nikon 308 scope. The elevation turret says its match for a 168gr bullet. My question is how accurate is this dial once it is set. I mean if i turned it to 300 would it put in on a 300yrd target. I have not used it yet, was just wondering before i took it to the rang next frieday. Its going in my Savage 10BA Stealth 308 I just picked up.

You'll need to know your MV and BC to determine its accuracy. And that all relative to head winds, alt and bar pressure.

I know that I need to know all the factors i was just wondering if anyone had any hands one with one. if so how accurate are the turrets with the pre set 168gr load. Friday I am going to a rang that goes out to 800yrs and will get it zeroed and adjustments for the yardages its going to be my dear gun from now on.

That I can't answer, had an old m223 years ago and it was strikingly accurate. I guess my loads mimicked the MV and BC enough to be accurate

If you have sort of idea on ur MV and BC, you can input it in a ballistic Calc and correlate the drop with the reticle subtensions, that would be the best "guess" for now.

I was just wondering is all, I know that I will need to take it out and shoot it. I have a Cabalas scope that is suppose to be caliber specific for a 243 but it is way off. I dont know anything about ballistic calculators so i did it by taking it to the range and just counting clicks. Then I taped them to the but stock. I may take it back for a BDC model not sure if there any batter
