I just wanted to see how many fellow hunters I have from Wise County. I hunt myself North of Alvord just inside Wise County. My pictures have been cut by more than half into due to the acorns. I hope the rain will help sour some of them otherwise it is going to be slow this weekend.

Good Luck to everyone.

2-3 minute walk for me, couldn't imagine having to walk as far as you do!

Hunt Wise/Jack county line near Crafton. Our bucks are gone from cameras. Going in blind this weekend ! With rain our roads ought to be really messy. About a 1/4 mile walk in for me.

I have hunted Wise and Jack County for the past 7 years. Our lease is split almost down the middle by the 2 counties. Up until last week I would average 4000 pictures a week on 1 camera and it was mainly bucks. And like clockwork, last week they vanished, I had 250 pictures for the week on the same camera and 90% of the pics were of 1 doe. This happens every year. Honestly, I don't know why I hunt opening weekend, I do it just because its the opener. I'm not expecting to see much, if anything this weekend.

Haslehunter, you are right, acorns are dropping and the deer are working those over and avoiding feeders.

How wet is it up there? Been traveling all week but understand we got some rain. My roads are awful so not certain I'll make the effort in the morning.

Kenny, I got a total of about 1.40 or so, ground was real dry so the surface is ok. Low spots may be a PITA if its clay

Western we got to meet up for lunch, we talked last couple years on " in the stand hunts." I'm hunting anther place but not to far from the last. And the 920 gas station makes a mean chicken finger basket!

Also has a good price on snuff. Stop there every trip. I'm 10-12 min from there.

That's enough to keep me from my preferred spot. Oh well, really need to buy a UTV.

Is that the Shell at 199/920? Never ate there, but have at the place on 199/ Salt creek rd, they make a good burger. We should grab Kenny and all meet out there one of these weekends.

C Bar N is a business that Chet does on the side. I talked to them a few weeks ago in person and they told me to tell everyone they are back and very excited. He had thought about and was trying to sell out the last 2 years because all of his kids that helped him are gone from home now. However he now has recruited new help and ready for a good season. It usually only takes about 2 wks to get your meat back.

I get nothing off of this I just believe in passing people's name on when they do a good job.

That shell station is about 10 minutes from my deer blind. I'll have to check it out. Maybe I'll run up there for lunch today.

I've never eaten at that Shell but when I've been there around lunch they seem to have a good crowd.

I'm up 920 from there.

Anybody here hit up LBJ? Plan on going out there during the extended antlerless season. Went there earlier this year for turkey and there were deer tracks everywhere.

I ventured out this afternoon. Decided to hunt from a pop-up in the bed of my truck. Figured it's the same as when I used to have a high rack. Muddy and did manage to bump my new truck through some brush on the way in. Not the pin striping I wanted.

Shell station has good breakfast tacos. Not sure my 10 year old will appreciate them before morning is over.

Took all I had to miss a buck in the middle of 199 about a mile south of the Salt Creek store.

I seen a lot more activity this weekend than I expected. However the young that I seen do not seem to have any interest in the does at all. Did anyone else see anything different.

I dang sure have been guilty of such in my younger, wilder days but I just aint that mad at em anymore. I can still hear the traffic from my stand tho.

South of Decatur off of HW 51. Surrounded by non hunters. I'm in the stand now. Waiting to see what walks through.
