Well the wife and I made a trip yesterday to my little deer lease in Delta co to get the box blind straightened up and wasp free for my son and I Saturday morning..... Low and behold some low life piece of S*** decided they needed my blind more than me and stole it. Last year they got my feeder and trail camera, and now my blind. I officialy have nothing now. I plan on contacting the warden today but it won't do any good, I imagine. Either way, my son and I will be there Saturday morning sitting somewhere and trying to make the best of it. frown

Good idea contacting the GW, for all you know, someone stopped, or dealt with someone hauling a blind that fits your description. Likely the same ones that hit you last time.

I have used 11-12 sq. bales of hay before, with a sheet of plywood on top, not nice, but gets the job done.

I hate thieves!

back in the day, we didn't have blinds, just used brush pile or some other type of object like a bush or cedar tree to break up your pattern. Hand toss some corn, not perfect, but will get you started.

Sorry to hear this. I would take the time after the morning hunt to build a brush blind with your sons help. Nothing would mean more to me than to kill a deer in a blind that was had built and the time spent together to build it.

You can still make an awesome memory with your boy. Hoping for the best for your family.

I agree. I think what bothers me the most is that dad and I built that blind from the ground up and both my son and daughter had their 1st hunts out of it. Oh and my wifes 1st hunt was out of it as well and I took my biggest buck that day.

Just go out and make some memories with your son and don't think about it. Then make some plans to build a new blind and let your son help. My opening weekend hunt was cancelled due to my step-father's passing and then every other weekend hunt is decided by my wife's Alzheimers.

Have a great weekend hunt and I hope the thieves get crushed by the blind they stole.

So sorry to hear of the low lifes who stole your blind. But the memories with your son are what's important....don't let some theif steal your joy also.

I have a ground blind built from four metal T-posts set up so that I can stack limbs between them. Easy to build, easy to add or remove limbs or logs to adjust the height. And it makes a solid gun rest. Use cedar in it and it'll last a very long time.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I'm starting to look forward to this blind building now. Guess I just got too frustrated to see any good.

Well despite the fact that we didn't see any deer, I would call opening morning a success. We threw up an old pop up my dad had and hunted for the 1st few hours of daylight, then spent the later part of the morning hooking up our new makeshift ground blind! If the lowlifes wanna take our new blind.... go for it lol! Looking forward to hunting this new setup. We can see several fields and draws from our new vantage point! rifle

Looks like you had a great day. My daughter and I got out this morning and she's begging to go in the morning. Nothing better than taking kids to hunt.

cheers

Well played Dad. Where your hunting you have a better chance of seeing a big buck out of that natural brush blind anyway. Memories made with your son cannot be stolen!!

Guess what fellers.... I found my box blind this weekend about 2 miles from my lease! AND I got my feeder back too!! I had the warden and sheriff out there this weekend and got everything resolved. Long story short, the land owners brother didn't know I had an agreement and told his hands to do what they wanted with my stuff. Apparently my stuff switched hands a few times and there was some pretty shady SHI* going on, one of them even blatently lied to the warden and he wasn't too happy about it. So legally, there wasn't too much that could be done so I told everyone involved I didn't want to press charges or cause any problems, but just wanted everyone on the same page and to leave my stuff alone. Even though I'm missing a trail cam, 10x50 binos, and my heater, I will make due.
