I know that Glenn Guess has worked extensively with the FoxPro folks and they have several proven sounds to call hogs. I've seen Glenn do this on video and I know Glenn to be a straight shooter so I believe what he says and preaches.
Just wondering, Do any of you guys call hogs?

Aggiehunter03 calls them in using boars sparring but he says you have to know where they bed down and there needs to be a dominant boar.

Glenn has me convinced that it works and as a result, I have managed to call hogs on a couple of occasions.

Worth a try.
I Feed Indian Corn. The deer love it and all the colors make them stay at the feeder longer.

I have tried it some but not much luck. I have gotten them to stop for a shot when they are all out running but no luck getting them to come closesr.

I have used a foxpro using "feeding hogs 2" a number of times. Has resulted in a lone boar hog coming in. Surprisingly though it has resulted on many more occasions of having coyotes coming in to investigate. Perhaps coyotes like to dine on piglets. I used it once after spotting a number of hogs, turned out to be about 100 or so, 200 yrds from where I had been calling for coyotes using rabbit in distress but the hogs were not interested. Had to go on foot after the hogs and intercept their path of travel.

I would not call by my feeders or pipes just because I do not want to change anything. I would and have called when scouting new areas. I think it is hit or miss. You can call territorial boars but younger hogs do not seem to respond and sows come when in heat but otherwise seem to ignore.
I think it is a tool for scouting, I think if you know where a smart old boars is it might work but, I would never call near a bait station.

Ive called in a couple of sows with a distressed piglet callon a cheap electric call that I have . Where did you get this sound at or what call do you use? The couple of distressed piglet calls/sounds I have are real shrill and have had the opposite effect. I have called in yotes with it but have had no success with pigs. Even with sows and shoats just out of range they seems to leave rather than come. Also, I have called in Crows with the distressed piglet calls.

Thinking about it a little, I have called pigs in late in the afternoon on hot days hunting over water. This seems to wake them up. I have had marginal to ok success over water.
If nothing else it seems to bring in crows and maybe yote to shoot...

specialed309 and I called in hogs from over 900 yards last night. They were actually on another property and got stopped by hog wire fencing. Only one hog made it through and Ed nailed it. Video to follow...

We called up 2 one night when we were still using cassette tapes, varmint hunting. We were hunting on the Smith place outside of Crane. The wind started blowing 40+. Sol I just turned the volume up all the way and we started drinking whiskey. Two sows came right up to the tailgate and stood there looking confused until they heard the last sound of their lives. That's the only hogs I ever had come to a call. I've had javelina come in quite a few times with a mouth call.

I tried a piglet-in-distress call last Wednesday night, hoping to call in a sow. What showed up was a coyote. After I dealt with him, a bobcat showed up. Fun night, and I think I'll try it again in the future.

I've used the following FoxPro hog sounds: Begging Hogs, Feeding Frenzy 1, Feeding Hogs 2, Baby Pig Distress, Juvenile Pig Distress, Sow Protection,, and Lil Piggy. The Baby Pig and the Juvenile Pig Distress have been the most successful for me. I'd suggest that you try all of them you can get just to see what works in your particular area.

That little cass creek electronic handheld has worked good for us. Called in a big boar with the fighting boars sounds and missed him. He came in bristles up and popping his teeth. Very cool.We hook it up to an old preymaster amplifier to get better sound.
