I'm not sure how to interpret the regs, wondering if anyone knows off hand. The goose regs say nothing about a youth season here:

Have this section in it:

Youth Only Season
15 years of age or younger. Regular season bag limits apply for all legal species of geese, ducks, mergansers and coots. Dusky ducks are legal during the youth only season. Youth hunters must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age.

I don't have a youth hunter any more, just wondering...

We totally messed this up around 7 years ago. Little canadas all over lissie tx rice fields after a big front pushed them down...from my understanding it is legal to hunt geese in youth season-we didnt know either and missed out on a huge opportunity on a rare occurrence for that early in the season

It is confusing and not clear. There was a thread on this few years ago, and pretty sure Sniper John or someone ran down the answer, and I remember TPWD was going to make it more clear the next year, guess that never happen. But pretty sure, for north zone youth opener, for example, you can shoot geese in that zone, and normal bag limits applie.

So when you can shoot them, use duck zone, bag limit based on goose zones.

OK gotcha, good to know. My nephew might be hunting youth this weekend as it turns out. There are some honkers around...

As an example, RR and Bridgeport are both in duck north zone so youth can kill ducks and gueese on these 2 lakes, but your goose bag limit for Bridgeport is west zone and RR is east zone.
