I searched the forum and was shocked not to see a bino review discussion. Well here we go, what's the best binoculars for hunting for the money? I'd like to stay under $200. I'm hoping to get reviews from yall that have tested a couple out and not just the pair you bought.
Gracias!

My Nikon Prostaff 7s 10x42s are clear to my eyes. My wife got me the camo ones for Christmas one year so they are a hair over $200 at $219. The regular 7s is slightly cheaper but not sure of the differences if any at all. The lenses have a slightly different tint to them from pictures online.

I love my Celestrons. Inexpensive, and are very clear to me.

Nikons are a good choice. Good glass, though they aren't the sturdiest of binocs. Just don't beat em up and they'll last forever.

I see so many that are 10x. I would prefer and 8x. I hate to buy foreign glass but even Luepold is selling foreign made in the compact glass.

I have two pairs of Nikon's (not sure the models) but think one are monarchs. One pair I bought because mine got busted and I was in Kansas, the other pair is for when I take the kids or family with me. Both are great glasses and under $200.

Most any bino with a price tag of $200 or less will be Chinese, no matter what brand is on it.

so is there a huge difference/preference in porro vs roof prism? I'm seeing the higher end binos are roof prism.

I had Nikon Prostaff that I took to Montana. Buddy of mine bought the vortex diamondbacks. When I got home I took the Nikons back and got Vortex. The glass was noticeably brighter.

I just looked at quite a few pair of binoculars and here is what I found....my eyes, so it may differ for you.
I tried the Zeiss Terra ($450)...Nice but I didn't find them "better".
Nikon Prostaff 7s(On sale for 169.99)... The clearest in the store. I could easily get them to focus and read small print from about 50 yards away and fit my face. (very important to me)
Nikon Monarch 3 and 5($250ish)... Looked great, but did not fit my face.
Redfield Rebel($150)...(I think that's the model and my current binos) Would not buy them again after looking through better glass.
All Leupolds(Cheaper to more expensive)... I could not get them to focus very well and was not impressed with the glass quality.
Vortex Diamondbacks($150 I think)...Had some good features, glass did not seem as bright as the Nikon glass. The eyecups just looked like they would fall off at any given time. One drop and I could see the need to use their lifetime warranty.
Overall, I really liked the Nikon Prostaff 7s for their clarity, comfort and ability to really get them focused to my eyes. My next set of "truck/Ranger" binos.
I hope this helps some.

Savage243 - great reviews.
Where are you finding the Nikon prostaff 7s for 169? I'm a Nikon fan (DSLR & sport optics) and I'm in the market for binocs and my wife is asking for a Christmas list.
