A four year old and a five year old are hard to judge unless you saw them the year before and new it was a four year old. Duhh right? Just sayin knowin the deer helps. Not always possible though. Alot of east tx. 4 yr olds carry the same antler mass and beam length. Tyically on the average. 4 in. Bases and 21 in. Beams. 5 year olds put on those longer beams and better antler mass. 4 yr. Olds are at 70 percent maturity, but put on alot of handsome body weight and muscle mass. The first year of the bull look. Cant say. Looks like a great buck.
Sometimes you just have to hold back. The odds are stacked against me and him. Then you see him in mid Febuary with full head gear and the glory hits you. Next season will be wanted even more.
