I've read a few things this year online that people say this years rut will be earlier than usual. it seems our rut every year is the first week of December at our place. Could it be this year the end of November? Ive also read it may be a trickle rut due to the moon this year. and some say that the deer will be chasing more at night and not in the daylight hours due to the moon. any ideas on this?

I can say I have seen a lot of chasing activity already this year. (Seems much earlier than usual) I believe that a lot of the chasing and breeding occurs after dark anyway.
I wish stupidity was not so handsomly rewarded.

I usually count on the first full moon in November as a sign to really kick things off.

Does seem to be a little soon, but what the heck I'll be in a blind with a rifle this weekend so bring it on!

everyone says the same... but its within a weeks time every year for us Same in western Mills. November 18 or a week either side of that is our heavy rut. There will be a trickle in October and December most years.

Probably be the same time. I think people always think its gonna be earlier because we want it to be. Deer have started moving because does are getting to the point but the heavy rut will likely still be in a couple weeka

There will be a trickle in October and December most years. I've hunted Mills for most of the past 25 years and I find this to hold true over that span of years

I usually count on the first full moon in November as a sign to really kick things off. ^^^^this^^^^ The full moons are 11/14 and 12/13 this year. Last year was the 25th of both months. And the 6th the year before.
Funny thing about getting older: Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to see through people's BS gets much better.
