My 6x45 barrel came in for my wife's build this week. When I bought it I didn't realize I got 1/2x28 pitch. Found that out today as I went to screw on a spare 30 cal flash hider for it. Since it's a 6mm/243, can I run a 5.56 compensator? I dropped a 30 cal bullet down a std A2 bird cage and it cleared with some room (minimal). So I'm wondering if other makes and models would have same clearance. Smdh at my self right now.

Hard to read, sir
Auto-correct messed it up a bit.

Can a 6mm bullet go through a 223 brake is what's I think he is asking
I think it's going to depend on which brake. Have to ask manufacturer. Also you could get a 1/2 to 5/8 adapter

Have a custom brake made. Small potatoes compaired to the total cost of a rifle.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

lol sorry FJG. Between talk text and auto correct that got really messed up. There are a lot of very good flash hiders and comps that I just don't see the expense of a custom brake like a JSE, he's down the road literally, when she won't use it that much. It's going to get a healthy dose of sig pink cerakote so I won't be using it much either.

That, I don't know, about all of them, but if the one you have clears a .308" bullet, then that particular one will be fine to use for a 6mm. 1/2 28 thread, is not uncommon. It's pretty easy to get a brake to fit those threads. One that is effective, and not expensive is Harrells Precision.

Other option is have the threading cut off, re crowned, and rethreaded.

You're talking two different things here. The brake's thread pitch and inside diameter of the brake opening. Neither have a thing to do with the other.
You need to be using calipers and not dropping bullets through the brake to determine clearance. If the bullet path's brake inside diameter is .224 (really it will probably be .244 or greater) then it will not work. You will need at least .263 (bullet is .243 and you want .020 of clearance, minimum) inside diameter for a .243/6mm brake.
Good luck.

LoL - you got yourself quite a dilemma.
I've seen some weird things with 6x45mm barrels and threading, albeit I understand they are attempting to make it difficult so that the end user doesn't use 5.56 parts/materials on a 6mm gun.
To answer your question: I would do the following.
A2 birdcages are some of the least sophisticated breaks in use, they have generous hollowed openings in the interior and are minimally effective but do provide some redirection of the gases. It will most likely work for your gun but to be sure I'd get a dowel that closely fits the specific brake you plan to use and measure the dowel to ensure it is .243 + .003 all the way around.
Other 6x45's that I've dealt with have the .308 threading which is the best option
Some even have their own thread pitch 9/16"x24 which really sucks and limits your choices even further.
