Had a super aggressive javelina running off does from the feeder. I thought he would run off a ways after being shot but ended up right where he stood kinda ruined the hunt, but he is no longer harassing my deer. Thats a screenshot of the video.

you have to gut shoot them if you want them to run a little.

Purposely 'gut shooting' a Javelina...besides the obvious ethical breach, increases the chance you would not be able to recover it.

In Texas, the Javelina is classified as a 'game animal'...and as such, you are required to make a reasonable effort to retrieve the animal AND collect the edible portions of the animal, otherwise it is considered 'wanton waste'...an act that can result in hefty fines and/or imprisonment.

'Nuisance' Javelina would not be subject to the above, of course.

There is no indication that the OP did not do the right thing and I am not suggesting in anyway that he did.

Just putting this 'out there' because certain folks DO shoot them and then summarily discard the carcass.

Others shoot them as 'pests' under dubious conditions that might fall well short of constituting a 'nuisance'.

Just remember, they ARE a game animal, with restrictions.

I personally do not care to gut shoot any animal. Have I? Yes, by accident. I took the statement more like a compliment on my shot placement in the picture and hope that is how it was meant. No matter how undesirable an animal might be the right thing to do is kill them quickly and humanely. That javelina was stone dead in the same spot within 10 seconds of being hit by the arrow. Trying to be of good taste I just screen shotted the shot placement from the video.
