Being an avid fisherman I know that barometric pressure has a direct affect on fish. Not sure I have seen any discussion on the affects of BP on deer. I do think there seems to be more game activity prior to a front. Any thoughts on how the pressure affects deer hunting?

No, but I know after a front comes through morning hunts movement tends to be later when the sun is 1/4 up around 8ish and after.

I have recently started a log book for my own interest to look at stuff like that. I was actually just rereading a favorite deer hunting book of mine that says studys have shown a major increase in deer activity when the pressure is falling or rising rapidly.

Think about it! A front to them is like a hurricane to us! We know it's coming so we stock up and don't come out till it's over and the sun is shining........ I know one thing for sure! Everything I broke or sprained in my life starts aching about 24 hrs before a front comes through......especially a hard cold front!

If you watch the Drury boys, they will tell you rising barometer and clear sky's = deer movement. I really like their "Thirteen" show that breaks down the season into 13 segments and what they've found to work in each segment.

High B is the best for land animals. Low B is the best for fish. The new moon till its peek isthe best for deer sightings. When it fades is when things get tricky. Witnessed it a million times.
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

Give me a high B and a new full moon on a cool crisp blue bird day and I'll walk right up out of work and wont come back till something is dead.

This being said, big old nasty mature bucks will move in real nasty weather BECAUSE they feel safe. Most hunters run for cover. I've witnessed this too. Alot of bold what the hell movement during mid day hours in some drinching rain. Those bucks have plans too like us. It's called stratigy.
