LHRS 3-12 I have a CTR 6.5 CM coming in today, I will probably mount a 4.5-18 LRHSi I got in but I prefer the 3-12 for a hunting rifle. Glass is good enough to make hits on 12" plates at 1K and rivals glass on scopes costing twice as much. I want to know about the new lrhsi asap. Let me or is know what you think

I have the LRHS 3-12 on my CTR in seekins lows. I like it so far.
My 2nd pick would be the SS 3-9, which I have on my Rem 700 308.
If you want pics of my CTR setup PM me and I'll text them to you.

I had an SWFA 3.5-15x42. Awesome scope for the money. I think you can get a sample list version for around $500. Not the best glass for low light, but an excellent all-around unit that's built like a tank and works through anything. I had one of these, I did like it and may pick up another when they go on sale. but if you consider it for your CTR be advised you may have issues with brass deflection off the large windage knob. I put one on my CTR in seekins lows, and way too often ejected brass would bounce back into the action. Rather than trying higher rings etc, I just swapped to the LRHS.

I'm looking for a scope for my CTR. Looking for something in the $500-$750 range. Would like to keep the weight of the scope down to around 20 oz. I think if the CTR as dual purpose long range target/hunting scope because of is compactness and weight of 7.5 lbs.
I know I definitely want a Mil/MIl scope. I have a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP Rifle scope with EBR-1 Mil/Mil with the sunshade and box it came In. I'm willing to sell it, message me if you're interested.

Nope. Not happening. I'll bring three scopes, you pick the one you want to mount onto your rifle for the day. As long as you have a 20 MOA pic rail on your rifle, it's no trouble to put one of my scopes on it. And as long as the rifle/ ammo shoot tight, in two shots the scope is zeroed for your rifle. I think the stock rail is not 0 MOA. I may come out to shoot with a $300 Weaver and test your teaching skills.

0 MOA is fine, the elevation turret will just have to be dialed up further.
Bring any scope you want, and we'll push it as far as it can go.

Factory rail on the CTR is 0 moa and it not easy to remove. My gunsmith tried and couldn't get it off.

First of all thanks for all of your opinions. I went with a Leupold Patrol 3-9 Firedot TMR. I have a VXR 2-7 with a CDS on my main hunting rifle and I love the eye box, glass and illuminated reticle. I figured this was a decent compromise for a hunting/ tactical scope at price range I'm looking for. It has Mil/Mil with illuminated reticle, exposed dials and weighs 15 oz which will help keep the overall weight of the rifle down.

I sure like that TMR reticle and have often wished I had the firedot in the middle of mine.

Gone be a little tough to see an eight inch plate at 800 yards, though.

I mounted the Patrol and went to the range today. Bore sighted through the barrel. Fired two shots at 50 yards. Looking the through scope and it was 1.2 mils low and .5 mils left. Made the appropriate adjustments and the third shot was dead center. Mil/Mil scopes are so easy to sight in. Moved to 100 yards to final sight in a try some different loads. The glass is very good. I love the Firedot. The reticle is better for hunting and will probably have some limitations for long range target shooting but I was really looking for a hybrid scope. I was shooting a Savage 223 with 10X Super Sniper and the reticle was much thinner and would be better at longer ranges. I was able to get some really good groups using 155 Tipped Match Kings and Varget. I've never used target bullets for hunting but I'm really liking the 155 TMKs. Group on the left was first. Then I went 3 clicks down and 2 clicks left for the 2nd group on the right.

Good news!
Looks like thats a great scope, and yes Mil/Mil scopes are super easy to sight in.
That bullet has become my new favorite for .308. I'm getting a gas gun to make 2600 fps MV. I had thought about borrowing a buddie's 24" bolt action .308 bolt action just how fast I can make it go.
A G1 of .518, and 2900 fps MV would not shock me. That's salty, but it'll reduce barrel life for those that work about such things.
