How do you guys that hunt out of a boat retrieve your ducks?
I have a 14' jon boat that has a scissor style blind built on top. Taking the blind down, retrieving the duck, and setting the blind back up seems like a real pain in the arse. I dont have a dog and only have access to public lakes where the water is too deep for wading. I have heard of the fishing pole with a treble hook but I have terrible luck with getting lures hooked on every branch within 100 feet of me.
What are some other ideas you can give me?

I have a better idea. Find spots that you can get out and wade. A 14ft boat that your trying to hunt out of will....limit your areas to hunt....be very unstable to shoot out of....and last but not least be a royal pain in the _$$.

I have a 14 footer. Shooting out of it in deep water or water deeper than the draft sucks, even with one person in the boat, sucks. I use it as a taxi, nothing more.
More than one hunter in the boat, you better have confidence in your hunting buddies shooting skills or you're liable to get blasted.

Get a trolling motor and mount it in the middle of the boat.

Clever John, if I remember correctly isn't there a section in the hunting regs prohibiting the use of RC to harass or annoy waterfowl?

As crowded as some of these spots get someone would probably shoot it. I also had the idea of basically using a ski rope and attaching treble hooks to the handle.

My serious answer. I take it your hunting divers. Otherwise where you hunt should also be where you can wade. And unless your hunting divers, a lot of ducks are going to avoid a tall blind on a public lake in Texas. Low profile and shallow water would do better. When I do use my power boat to hunt from, I am laying in it.
