Question for taxidermists out there. My taxidermist who I have been going to forever and has always done excellent work for me recently mohnted a muley I shot. I went to see it the other day and bring him an antler so he could fix a busted tine. The ears on it looked off. For some reason he had it mojnted with the ears almost straight out. It bothered me. My question is, how hard would it be for him to fix them to a more natural updight postion? If its really hard and hed have to take it all apart or something i wont worry about it, but if its easy I will ask him. Thanks

Good question, I'll watch for replies.
My wife shot a white tail with unusually large ears, his size was masked by the his huge ears. When he was mounted the ears where made to look normal, we wanted them to be as wide as they were naturally, 20.5".
I wonder if it can be fixed too?

Hogslayer, call your taxidermist now and ask him to move ears like you want them, if its still in the drying process it can be done. If it is dried they will have to rehydrate it and reset ears, pain in the.... but it can be done, might cost you.
Simple Searcher, not following what you're asking. Anything can be fixed, just takes money.
When most people drop off animals they just pick out the form or how they want it to look. I always used to ask how they wanted the ears set. Most people don't care and usually says to do what looks best. I never have like to have both ears alert or forward because it takes away from the size of the antlers, but that is my opinion.

As my mother told me with my first wife, "I don't have to live with her"
You will have to look at it everyday so if you ain't happy have your taxi change it now. If not that will be what you see everyday.
Nice buck by the way cheers where did you take him at?

Thanks. I went ahead and called him and he said he should be able to make it better. I shot him this september in Montrose Colorado with my bow.

Looks great to me , never would have noticed. Look through some Muley pic's online, other mounts, etc, see what is "natural"

Great freekin deer BTW, especially with a bow, congrats
