Nightforce at twice the price of the PST is the answer. Or you may consider the SS 5-20x50 at $1100ish. Also nice and durable.
Next question?

NF, and Viper PST should not be compared together.
RHutch made a good post, I completely agree with.
Burris XTR II in Mil dot is an excellent option, as well.

Depends on what you want to do with the rifle.
But IF your question is: Which is the higher quality scope, its the NF all day long.
In the Vortex line-up you'll need to be in the Razor series before making a comparison to the NF and even then...I'd give the nod to the NF.

Not a huge fan of the SHV. I would honestly get a Burris before the SHV model of could save some money and go Vortex PST which is an awesome scope. They can't make them fast enough.
I know quit a few guys you had the SHV and hated it. If you can look at all them and compare I would do that. You can also get a NXS line of NF for a little more money or pick up a Razor scope for 2k all day long

Well, they're not the same class of scope. Razor is a big, heavy, long range scope, you would have to compare it to a NF ATACR-F1.
The SHV was designed to be much lighter weight than every other NF models, trying to appeal to hunters that have the skill to shoot distance.

I never owned a Vortex but I am considering. Some people love them and tout their Customer Service. I'd prefer a scope I never have to send back or one that won't bite the dust on an expensive hunt.

The PST is what it is. It's an entry level FFP(some are spf) made in the Philippines. The razors are sobfar beyond the PST in glass its not even funny. The razor AMG has the best glass on the market in that price range and some dare to compare it to S&B. I've looked through them all BUT I havent had the opportunity to compare the AMG side by side with a S&B. The SHV isn't even comparable to the PST in terms of glass, features etc. Since the OP OK never stated which exact SHV or PST I cant offer any more feedback.

In that case between the 2 they both have good features. The SHV has better glass but I dont think it's $600 better glass. For a little more(albeit used) the gen ii razor 3-18 with an ebr-2c Would be a better choice if i had a recommendation.

Vortex scopes are not junk but with the 2 scopes you asked about is comparing apples to oranges. The NF is a clear winner over the PST, both were designed with 2 different shooters in mind.

no have not seen. after looking at everyone replies seems like vortex scopes are junk staying away from them. Lol.. Theyre not junk. No questions asked lifetime warranty, excellent customer service, good illumination at all settings, clear at night, a quality product for the money. I bought a 4x14 shv sold it a few days later. Ive had 200$ scopes that had better illumination. I dont know what the shv f1 illumination looks like but the sfp shv is terrible.
