There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I couldn't wait. Going for a little run tomorrow morning.

It was cool enough this morning and we found some water in the ditches near the rice fields but we had to pick up because the cover was too thick. We found one covey on a fence row.

My place is in the pan handle, probably just hunt a couple hours in the morning to start letting the pooch start to get in shape. Land owner says there's a bumper crop of rattlers so it will have to be real cool.

It typically is too hunt to hunt the opener in South texas. I am hoping for another front but not counting on it.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

I am scouting the forums, does that count? heh.
I won't be hunting for a while.. gotta heal up my foot, then see if quail hunting in Texas means driving 3 hours away :P
Post up some good looking dog photos to help this fella out, will ya?
In fact, I think I shall make that a thread.

Ours used to be a little under 4 hours. This year it will be more like 6.5 hrs but I cant wait! Won't be going to my new place till the week before Christmas, but will probably go to a buddies place the weekend after Thanksgiving. Gonna have to get colder first though.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

To hot for us, and to many damn snakes... So we are fishing!!!!! For those who are going to hunt this weekend be real careful. Snakes most active in 75-90 degrees and my lease SW of Jayton is said to have more snakes then the rancher has seen for awhile. The pic is one of my dogs who had an issue at a trial in Mo. this week. Shawn Kinkelaar and another noted handler said snake bite, my handler and others said he may have been caught in wire or fence and struggled to get out. Just looking at the leg I think snake but in either case he came out ok and is doing fine. Just be careful if you hunt this weekend.

I had knee surgery so no hunting right now. Maybe by the end of the month I can be in the field.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.
