I recently started doing baited hunts for gnrizzly bear here in Alaska. We have several cameras on our baits. However they don't take pictures all the time. One night I sat the bait and we had nine different grizzly come in, we shot two of them and got one picture the whole night!
I'm looking for a decent camera that has the view finder in it, so I can see what kinda pictures it's taking without having to mess with taking cards in and out. Trying to stay under $200. I figure you Texas boys would have a lot more game camera experience than I do!!

I hear lots of good things about the Browning and Bushnell cameras.

I have never owned any cameras with the "view finder" built in so I'm no help there, but I would recommend the Bushnell or Browning as mentioned by landpirate.

My Bushnell Aggressor "low glow" has a better trigger speed, detection range, and better night photos than my Browning, but the overall picture quality of the Browning seems better (truer color and less over exposure from surrounding objects)

Both cameras are good about not taking blurry pics

your battery could be low, or low because of cold
--- that affected your trigger/flash

Use good Duracell red top or Lithium to see if that helps

Or, trail cameras all have a setting where you take photos once a minute, hour, day etc. You may have it set to only take photos during the longest time. Also, I have too have never seen one with a view finders. But all the brownings and most others have a setting so that you can see when you trip the camera. You put the camera on the tree and walk in front of it. A red light will come on when the camera would have taken a photo. Also, you may have the camera to far from the area that you want to get photos from. Honestly, no more than 15 feet if you want good photos, I am not saying that it will not take photos from as far away as 75-100 feet. But to insure that when a bear walks to the bait that you get a photo, 15 feet. And, don't get the black out ones. All the do is use more battery and take dimmer photos at night.

Trail cams are kinda hit and miss. I've never owned a Reconyx but understand them to be the most reliable but $$. If you really want to see all the game, put 2 per bait station. They never agree but you'll get more pics.
