I'm considering buying a 450 Bushmaster upper. Not worried about ammunition because I can reload.
The main thing that concerns me is the recoil. I have a few health problems that makes recoil a concern for me.
I have no problems with a 12 gauge and can go through 100 rounds on the skeet field with no problem, and my 6.5 Creedmoor is also fine. But anything more than that may be a concern.
Anybody own one that can give me some info/advice?

I have one and I wouldn't say the recoil is any worse than a 12 ga. I haven't shot mine a whole lot but recoil isn't terrible.

Make sure you have a good butt pad. I had one that had a regular A2 stock on it with the metal dimpled butt plate. It abraded my shoulder pretty good. Other than that it wasn't too bad.

Adding a suppressor to it will make a big difference for sound and recoil. It won't be quiet, but it will be a lot quieter than without it. I would suggest going with a Mako GL-ShockCP stock. It's adjustable like any 6 position stock but it has a spring built in to reduce recoil. I have one on my 458 SOCOM and a buddy has one on his .50 Beowulf.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

I got rid of mine, I kicked like a mule and it is hard to make it kick less in an AR platform. The AR platform is designed to kick strait back. I hunt to out of box blinds and if you put a brake on it (which i did) it is way to loud. I have never found a can that I wanted to use on one.

My can is a Bowers VERS 50.

My can is a Bowers VERS 50. I looked at that can but could not find any reviews on it. That has been a couple years ago. Does it work well?

My can is a Bowers VERS 50. I looked at that can but could not find any reviews on it. That has been a couple years ago. Does it work well? It works great. I used to want a .50 Beowulf. A friend bought one and let me shoot it. I was just going to shoot one shot so I opted for no hearing protection. It kicked pretty hard even with a muzzle brake and after one shot my ear rang for months. I no longer wanted a large bore AR. Then he bought the Mako which helped with the recoil and ordered a Bowers VERS 50. I shot it suppressed and without hearing protection and it was not a problem. The recoil was not bad and the sound was fine even without hearing protection. I could shoot it all day long. I wanted a big bore AR again. I went with the 458 SOCOM and got the VERS 50 for it. They make a VERS 458 that will handle a 460 caliber but I found a good deal on the VERS 50. I have been happy with it.

That's what I was afraid of. The only thing we have currently in the AR platform are 223s, and I wanted to go with something a bit bigger. I guess I'll take a harder look at the Grendel and the 6.8SPC Thanks for the replies gentlemen!

I guess I'll take a harder look at the Grendel and the 6.8SPC Thanks for the replies gentlemen! I have 6.8s but I bought early when there was still issues with the Grendel brass. That is fix now and the Grendel is doing well. If you like the 6.5 Creedmoor I would get the Grendel. You can reload with the same Bullets. Good Luck. BTW, 3 of my 6.8s are suppressed and they are very fun to shoot. Most of the shots I see are 140 yards or less and this is prefect of the 6.8.
